Winter's Dreamtime
“Cosmic Bear”
Greetings all and Happy New Year!
I hope this finds everyone enjoying some cave time in this season of winter stillness.
January has arrived and I am SO grateful to begin another year with new intentions and cosmic dreams of where this bear is headed AND how our divine paths shall cross...As such, I invite you and YOUR good medicine to connect with me somewhere along the way to share our collective passion and purpose of our soul’s mission here on Mother Earth.
Also arriving in this New Year is our first grandchild!! Bill and I became grandparents last week and we are beyond blessed with the newest addition to our family. Baby Wesley was born to our son and his wife who currently reside in Hangzhou, China. All are doing well and with Spirit’s blessing and guidance, they will move back to the Boston area in the upcoming months. We are truly blessed!!!

The cosmos is getting our attention right out of the gate this year, with 2 full moons in both January and March. Interesting enough, since they both occur on the 1st and 31st of those months, it leaves what I am calling, a 'void of moon month' in February…meaning there are 4 full moons between January and March, but none occur in February! Surely the night sky must have an effect on us; after all, we are made up of the same cosmic dust as the universe so this resonance has to be deeply felt in our own molecular, cellular bodies.
And so we begin our new year journey with the first moon of 2018, a new moon in the sign of Capricorn on January 16th – Capricorn is typically represented by an image of a goat. When I think of the goat, I see a sure-footed totem guide, helping me to scale yet another climb up the mountain. Why not call on the wisdom of the goat this month to assist with your own mountain pilgrimage, whatever that may be.
I read a great quote this morning that I thought I’d share with you, as it sure-footedly sums up this new moon energy for me –
“Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working or mowing the lawn.
So climb that (!#%#@) mountain!!“ – Jack Kerouac

Lessons from the BEAR still hibernating in the cave remind us the importance of sacred space; carving out some quiet time in the stillness of the season allows for an intimate reflection of our infinite soul. As we journey deeper into the caverns of our mind, body and spirit, our sacred truths unfold and we begin to remember, our soul’s mission and purpose.
Create and spend some time in your own sacred space. In the quiet stillness of your hibernation, invite your spirit to dance, play, journey, drum, create!! In this stillness, everything appears. Bundle up and get outside however you can and commune with nature spirits. Even in the coldest winter, they are there. We can learn much from them as they have mastered the art of going within, shape-shifting and finding their own sacred space. Protecting ourselves from the elements can mean so much more than just ducking into a cave when the snow flies or the cold winds blow. It can also mean protecting ones energy field by taking time to reset the rhythms of the body which is so effortlessly reflected in nature this time of year.
Tap into your senses; when we come unplugged and take time to just be, amazing things can be heard. This is the time of year when the veils are thinnest and our spirit connections are wide open. Winter is a time of deep healing and great dreams. Keeping a dream journal close by your bed not only provides us with insight, but solution to many of our daily transpirings and/or dilemmas.
Spend some time noticing the depth of darkness in the clear winter sky! This is the place of the ancestors, where guidance and wisdom are just a question away; we need only shift our awareness to tap the intuition waiting to assist from the direction of the North.
Create a spirit journal. Write out your questions and place them under your pillow each night, thanking your angels, guides or helping spirits in advance for answering them in dreamtime.
Dream your dream out loud! Spirit is closer than ever before and the more specific your communication, the more likely you are to manifest exactly what you are asking for. Be careful what you wish for!!
Look for answers in non-ordinary ways, knowing that nothing is truly what it seems. The coffee grinds or tea leaves left at the bottom of your cup may form an image. The bumper sticker on the car in front of you may affirm something for you. Those plans that got cancelled may have opened a different door of opportunity for you. Discount nothing! Spirit truly works in mysterious ways and once we step up onto that path of mystery, we begin to see these things for ourselves. As the Buddha once said, sometimes “we must close our eyes to see”.
Tap into the winter weather and spirit of the wind, rain, snow, mist!! When the ground is so cold and the air unusually warm, a mist just seems to rise up out of the earth and up out of the water. When we take time to stop and observe, we step in between these veils, or realities of earth and sky. There is always more to reach, to climb, to know….but it begins with us, and a first step of intention to want “more” – so call on this Capricorn new moon to assist in your intentions.
January is the first month of the year and affords wonder full opportunities of reflection to help with whatever it is we are endeavoring.
This may be the year to forge a new path, perhaps you're ready to leave behind that which no longer works, be it a job, relationship, pattern of behavior. Now more than ever, we are being called into our higher selves and asked the question of “who am I?” It is time to own our earthly shoes and begin to walk the intended path of our Spirit footprints, previously etched from the other side so many moons ago.
Don’t be afraid to stand up and be different from the rest! Historically the most brilliant creators, writers, artists, musicians, composers, philosophers all stood alone in their greatness….remember, in the stillness of being alone, everything appears…it’s time to own your unique genius reflections!
Dream your dream out loud this month!! Set some intentions and don’t hold back, the following months will allow time and space for you to figure out the “how’s” – for now, it is all about the “what’s”.
I would love to share some sacred space with you this year! Please do not hesitate to call on me if I can offer shamanic reflections along our shared mystery paths.
To browse my upcoming events, please click the Events link to the left. All events are held here in my own sacred space unless otherwise noted. Please share this information with others who may be interested and don’t hesitate to call for more information or if you’d like to host me at your location!
Spiritual circles are connecting and colliding and it is time to share our collective good medicine with those who are seeking…as the Hopi elders remind:
“We are the ones we’ve waiting for!”
Aho!
Bear Hugs and Warm Wintry Blessings!
