Spirit Food for Thought

"REMEMBER
To Look up at the Stars
Not down at your feet

Try to make sense of what you see
And wonder
About what makes the Universe
Exist.

Be Curious"

- Stephen Hawking

"We're in a free-fall into future. We don't know where we're going. Things are changing so fast, and always when you're going through a long tunnel, anxiety comes along. And all you have to do to transform your hell into a paradise is to turn your fall into a voluntary act. It's a very interesting shift of perspective and that's all it is ... joyful participation in the sorrows and everything changes."

~Joseph Campbell

Everything we have learned along the way is not entirely true

Hold fast to nothing

Except for your own truth

Who are you?

Why are you here?

Who did you come here to be?

Do not attach to anything

Do not hold on to any one view

Rather just be yourself, state your truth, know

Be the center of your own universe

When you look all around from many angles – what do you see?

It is time to return to yourself

Return home

To the truth only you can touch, hear, feel, taste, BE

What is growing inside of you?

Fall is the time of harvest, so reap now what you have sown thus far and continue on. I think of it as a noticing of all my leaves, see what they all represent. Sometimes we leave some lay, sometimes we pick up the most colorful ones and continue to enjoy them. Others are not yet ripe, a reconciliation of sorts.

Think about the time of rest winter will bring and what seeds you wish to plant again in spring.

Fall is a time of change – the trees, leaves, temperatures…a natural falling away occurs. It is a time for crisp noticing!

Allow your beautiful colors to drift to the ground as leaves on a tree. Nothing to do but notice and state their truth as they drift down. Even the falling action is oh so beautiful when you take the time to stand still and watch.

In the silence of stillness

Everything is known.

Take some time just for you this fall season to reflect on and appreciate all of the beautiful colors of your tree, unique only to you ...

“The earth does not belong to us. We belong to the earth. The earth is our mother. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons and daughters of the earth. This we know. We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children. Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together and connected like the blood which unites one family”.

Desires lead to fantasies
Fantasies lead to dreams
Dreams lead to possibilities
Possibilities become realities

Realities become the possibility that dreams awaken in fantasies if we only tap into our desires -- and yearn for more...

Winter by Tommy Makem

WINTER, a sharp bitter day
the robin turns plump against the cold
the sun is week
silver faded from gold
he is late in his coming and short in his stay
Man, beast, bird and air all purging, all cleansing,
earth already purified awaits the rite of spring
Her bridal gown a virgin snow and frosts in her hair
A snowdrop by the road today bowed gracefully
and high upon the wing up in the sparkling nothingness,
a lone bird began to sing
Can gentle spring be far away?

"While we practice conscious breathing, our thinking will slow down, and we can give ourselves a real rest. Most of the time, we think too much and mindful breathing helps us to be calm, relaxed and peaceful. It helps us stop thinking so much and stop being possessed by sorrows of the past and worries about the future. It enables us to be in touch with life, which is wonderful in the present moment".
